ARBORETUM AT CSUF

My time as a Climate Impact intern at the Arboretum mainly consisted of taking and editing photos of trees, fruits, and other plants for digitial self-guided tours and making a few graphics for them as well. These photos were meant to be viewed on smaller screens and serve as a visual landmark in case guests get lost. Each tour was also given an identity and easily identifiable signage that helps visitors find the mentioned trees.

CITRUS TOUR PROCESS

The signage went through many phases before landing on the final design. At first, we played around with the idea of a logo, where I combined the ‘C’ in Citrus with a location marker for the tour. After discussing with the team, we decided on a simpler approach that would be more recognizable to a wider audience. A citrus slice, the tour name, and number of the indicated tree was all that was needed.

CLIMATE RESILIENT TOUR

This tour focuses on trees that can withstand hotter temperatures and still thrive. Many of these trees can be found in California and a few are native. With that in mind, the title for the signage is from the Californian flag, signifying its strength by acting as the base for the large sun above it. Each tour’s signage follows the same concept of having the title, number, and symbol that makes it identifiable as the Climate Impact team’s project.
